2024/2025 NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) POST UTME REGISTRATION EXERCISE

The online registration for Maritime Academy of Nigeria Post-UTME screening exercise for admission into the various National Diploma (ND) programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session commences on 5th August 2024 and close on 30th  September 2024. The duration of the Academy’s National Diploma (ND) programmes is two (2) years (four semesters).

The following full time ND programmes are on offer:
1.   Nautical Science
2.  Marine Engineering
3.  Electrical/Electronic Engineering
4.  Maritime Transport and Business Studies

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1. ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES

Candidates who selected Maritime Academy of Nigeria as their First (1st) Choice Institution in the 2024 UTME and scored above the required cut-off mark as stated in (2) below are eligible for post-UTME registration.

  • 2. UTME CUT-OFF MARKS
  • Nautical Science -  170
  • Marine Engineering - 170
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering - 170
  • Maritime Transport and Business Studies - 160

3. MODES OF CORRESPONDENCE

Candidates seeking admission into the Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have a functional and accessible electronic mail (e-mail) address and mobile phone number for correspondence. Candidates are not required to present themselves physically except on invitation through the Website Publication and e-mail/text messages.

4.O-LEVEL SUBJECTS AND UTME SUBJECTS COMBINATION
A:   ND Nautical Science
1)  O/Level Subjects
Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:

  • Mathematics
  • English Language,
  • Physics
  • Geography, and
  • Any other related science subjects obtained within the last five (5) years in NOT more than two sittings.

2) UTME Subject Combination:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Geography
  • Physics

B: Marine Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering
1)     O/Level Subjects
Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
-   Mathematics
-   English Language,
-   Physics,
-   Chemistry, and
-   any other related science subjects obtained within the last five (5) years in NOT more than two sittings.
2) UTME Subject Combination:
o   English Language
o   Mathematics
o   Chemistry
o   Physics

C: Maritime Transport and Business Studies
1)     O/Level Subjects:
Applicants Must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects which must include:
-   Mathematics,
-   English Language,
-   Economics, and

  • Any two (2) of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting, Marketing, or Business Management, obtained within the last five (5) years in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

2) UTME Subject Combination:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Economics
  • Geography/Commerce/Government/Principle of Account/Marketing.
  • 4.Olevel Result

Only the O/level result submitted on CAPs will be us for the screening exercise. Thus, all Candidates are advised to upload their O/Level Result on CAPs before 30th September 2024.

  • 5 PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
  •  A.Physical Fitness. Due to the peculiar requirements of the institution and the maritime industry as well as the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) as amended which mandates all seafarers to be physically and mentally fit to work in the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the rigours/challenges of the cadetship training. Consequently, shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves for physical and medical fitness screening when invited.
  • B.Medical Form. The candidate should print out the Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form should be duly completed and signed before uploading on the portal.
  • C. Medical Test. Candidates will be subjected to the following MEDICAL TEST when invited for the admission screening exercise at the Academy:

1. PCV
2.  VDRL
3.  HBV
4.  HIV1/2
5.  FASTING BLOOD SUGAR (FBS)
6.  PT (Pregnancy Test for Females)
7.  URINALYSIS
8.  GENOTYPE
9.  BLOOD GROUP
10. DRUG

  • 6.MARITAL STATUS

Applicants must be single and shall remain single throughout the duration of the programme.

  • 7. AGE LIMIT

Candidates applying for Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, and Electrical/Electronic Engineering must be between the ages of 16 and 21 as at 31st October 2024. Candidates applying for Maritime Transport and Business Studies must be between the ages of 16 and 25 as at 31st October 2024

  • 8. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application Form is available online at: www.maritimeacademy.gov.ng. Eligible candidate should take the following steps to start the registration process:
Click on Admission HND/ND Registration Portal

  • Login with UTME number as Username and Jamb Score as Password
  • Generate RRR and Print the Payment Slip
  • Proceed to any of the banks of your choice to make payment using Remita Payment Platforms
  • Return to the Academy Portal to complete your Registration.
  • 9. COMMENCEMENT/CLOSING DATES

Application portal opens on 5th August 2024 and closes on 30th September 2024.
Medical Test Screening Exercise holds for invited candidates, from 14th – 25th October 2024 at the Academy’s Campus, 6 College Road, Oron Akwa Ibom State.

  • a. Candidates with incomplete registration will be automatically disqualified.
  • b. Only Candidate who meets the minimum requirement as stated above will be invited for screening
  • c. Candidates who fail to upload all required document(s) will be automatically disqualified
