ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates seeking admission into any programme of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria must have a functional and accessible electronic mail address (E-mail) and Mobile number.

  1. National Diploma Programme

The Admission process into National Diploma programmes of the Academy is through Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board (JAMB)/Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) only.

  1. Candidates who are interested in the programmes of the Academy must sit for UTME
  2. Candidates that meets the Cut Off Point should Login to the portal using the Jamb registration Number and Jamb Score as Password.
  3. Screening/Aptitude Test:
  1. Candidates are subjected to Screening Exercise/Aptitude Test which may be changed from time to time as decided by the Management/Regulatory Authority.
  2. Candidates must pass Medical Examination and Physical Fitness before he/she can be considered for admission.

Entry Requirements

  1. Nautical science
  2. Five (5) credit passes at O/Level (WASC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB etc) not more than two (2) sittings.

Subjects Required

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Geography
  4. And any other two(2) subjects from Chemistry,Physics, Biology etc
  1. Marine Engineering
  2. Five (5) credit passes at O/Level (WASC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, etc.) in not more than two (2) sittings.

  1. Maritime Transport and Business Studies
  2. Five (5) credit passes at O/Level (WASC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB etc) in not more than two (2) sittings

  4. Any other two (2) from Commerce, Government, Principles of Account, Business Management etc
  1. Age Limit
  1. (Serial No. 1 – 2 under the Entry Requirements) should not be more than 21 years old at the time of admission and shall be single and remain single throughout the duration of the programme.
  2. (Serial No. 3 - 4) should not be more than 25 years old at the time of admission and shall be single and remain single throughout the duration of the programme.
  1. Requirements for Admission into Higher National Diploma Programmes

    The duration of HND programmes is two (2) years, divided into four (4) semesters
    The following programmes are on offer

  1. Nautical Science
  2. Marine Engineering
  3. Maritime Transport Management

Applicants for HND in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering must:

  1. Possess the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and any two of Geography, Technical Drawing and Chemistry, obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS
  2. Possess a National Diploma in Nautical Science/Marine Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other accredited institution listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Also, candidates must have JAMB Registration number.
  3. Have completed a minimum of one year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
  4. Candidates with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other accredited institution must have completed a minimum of two years Post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two years cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.

Applicants for HND in Maritime Transport Management must:

  1. Possess the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two of Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting and Business Management, obtained in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.
  2. Possess a National Diploma in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other accredited institution listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Also, candidates must have JAMB Registration number.
  3. Have completed a minimum of one year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of one year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
  4. Candidates with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other accredited institution must have completed a minimum of two years post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of two years cognate work experience in a relevant organisation.
