2026/2027 NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) POST-UTME REGISTRATION EXERCISE

1.0 INVITATION
The Management of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following two-year (four-semester) full-time National Diploma (ND) programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session:

  1. National Diploma in Nautical Science
  2. National Diploma in Marine Engineering
  3. National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  4. National Diploma in Maritime Transport and Business Management

Online registration and application open on Friday, 26th June 2026, and close on Friday, 24th July 2026.

2.0 MODE OF CORRESPONDENCE
Candidates seeking admission must maintain an active email address and mobile phone number for official correspondence throughout the screening process. All post-UTME registration must be completed via the Maritime Academy of Nigeria application portal, and final admissions processed through the Joint Admissions and Jamb Examination Board’s (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Candidates must not appear physically at the Academy unless shortlisted and explicitly invited for medical and physical screening exercises via a website publication, email, or SMS.

3.0 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
3.1 GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
Candidates who selected the Maritime Academy of Nigeria as their First (1st) Choice Institution in the 2026 UTME are generally eligible to apply/register.

3.2 UTME MINIMUM ADMISSIBLE SCORE
Candidates who scored not less than the following minimum admissible score are eligible for the post-UTME registration:

  1. Nautical Science: 175
  2. Marine Engineering: 175
  3. Electrical/Electronic Engineering: 175
  4. Maritime Transport and Business Studies: 160

3.3 O-LEVEL SUBJECTS AND UTME SUBJECT COMBINATIONS
1) ND Nautical Science

  1. O-Level Subjects: Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least five (5) credit passes obtained within the last five (5) years in not more than two sittings. Compulsory subjects include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Geography, and any other related science subject.
  2. UTME Subject Combination: English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and Physics.

 

2) ND Marine Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering

  1. O-Level Subjects: Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least five (5) credit passes obtained within the last five (5) years in not more than two sittings. Compulsory subjects include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any other related science subject.
  2. UTME Subject Combination:

English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.
3) ND Maritime Transport and Business Studies

  1. O-Level Subjects: Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least five (5) credit passes obtained within the last five (5) years in not more than two sittings. Compulsory subjects include: Mathematics, English Language, Economics, Geography or Commerce, and any one (1) of the following: Government, Financial Accounting/Bookkeeping, Marketing, Business Management, or Computer Science/Data Processing/ICT.
  2. UTME Subject Combination: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any one (1) of Geography, Commerce, Government, or Principles of Accounts.

4.0 PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
4.1 PHYSICAL FITNESS CRITERIA
In alignment with maritime industry demands and the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978, as amended, all seafarers must be physically and mentally fit. Applicants must be capable of handling the rigours of regimented cadetship training. Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo physical and medical screening upon official invitation.

4.2 MEDICAL EXAMINATION FORM (FORM M)
Candidates must download and print the Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form must be completed and endorsed by a registered medical practitioner at a recognized government hospital before being re-uploaded to the portal.

4.3 Academy Medical Screening Tests
Shortlisted candidates will undergo verification screening at the Academy, which includes the following medical diagnostic tests:

  1. Packed Cell Volume (PCV)
  2. Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL)
  3. Hepatitis B Virus (HBV)
  4. Human Immunodeficiency Virus Types 1 & 2 (HIV 1 & 2)
  5. Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS)
  6. Pregnancy Test (PT) – female candidates only
  7. Urinalysis
  8. Genotype
  9. Blood Group
  10. Controlled Substance / Alcohol and Drug Test

Data Privacy Compliance: All medical information uploaded or gathered during screening is treated with strict confidentiality and processed securely under institutional data protection guidelines solely for admission eligibility evaluation.

5.0 MARITAL STATUS
Applicants must be single and are required to remain single throughout the duration of the National Diploma programme.

6.0 AGE LIMITS
The following age limits applies for the ND admission:

  1. Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, and Electrical/Electronic Engineering: Candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 21 years as of 30th September 2026.
  2. Maritime Transport and Business Studies: Candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 25 years as of 30th September 2026.

7.0 APPLICATION FEES AND PROCEDURE
7.1 Registration Fee
The registration and application fee is Two Thousand Naira only (N2,000.00). Payments must be processed through the REMITA platform.

7.2 Step-by-Step Application Steps
To register for the post UTME, take the following steps:

  1. Visit the official website: www.maritimeacademy.gov.ng
  2. Click on "Admission" and select "ND Registration Portal."
  3. Create an account profile and log in.
  4. Generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) code.
  5. Select your preferred payment channel.
  6. Complete the payment transaction via Remita (online card payment or at any commercial bank branch).
  7. Return to the portal to finalize data entry and upload documents.
  8. Monitor application status tracking indicators regularly.

8.0 OPERATIONAL ADVISORY

  1. Disqualification: Incomplete registrations—including, unsubmitted forms, incomplete form, missing credential uploads, or the presentation of fraudulent credentials—will result in automatic disqualification from the process.
  2. Code of Conduct: The Academy maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding drug or alcohol abuse, bullying, harassment of any kind, examination misconduct, and other related anti-social vices.
  3. Anti-Corruption Clause: Admission is strictly merit-based. Candidates are warned against the activities of third-party fraudsters or middlemen. The Academy has not authorized external agents to facilitate admissions.
  4. Communication Channels: All correspondence regarding admissions shall be conducted exclusively through the official application portal and JAMB CAPS. The Academy disclaims liability for any transaction conducted outside these verified pathways.
  5. Mode of Study: All listed ND programmes are strictly full-time, regimented, and residential. Applicants seeking part-time or non-residential enrolment are not eligible.
